Dosen HI Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Latih Warga Timor Leste Kelola Sampah Plastik

YOGYAKARTA – Tim Dosen Prodi Hubungan Internasional (HI) Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) menggelar program pengabdian masyarakat internasional bagi masyarakat Becora, Distrik Dili, Timor Leste. Tim yang terdiri dari yang terdiri atas Dr Sugito SIP, MSi dan Dr Sugeng Riyanto SIP, MSi tersebut bekerja sama dengan LSM Ecosista yang berada di Becora, Dili, Timor Leste. Tema yang diambil dalam kegiatan tersebut adalah Pengelolaan Sampah Plastik di Timor Leste Untuk Mencapai Tujuan Sustainable Development Goals.

Sugito mengungkapkan, pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi komunikasi melalui jaringan internet, karena pandemi Covid-19 yang melanda Timor Leste. Tjuan kegiatan tersebut untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pengurus Ecosista mengolah sampah plastik menjadi barang berguna dan memiliki nilai ekonomi, serta meningkatkan kemampuan pengurus Ecosista dalam menjalankan edukasi bagi masyarakat Becora, Dili tentang pengelolaan sampah plastik.

“Meningkatkan kemampuan pengurus Ecosista dalam menjalin kemitraan dengan lembaga donor nasional maupun internasional, selain meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan masyarakat Becora, Dili dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik,” kata Sugito, Senin (19/04/2021).

Pelatihan tersebut dilaksanakan secara daring dengan tiga instruktur. Yaitu, Dr Sugito SIP, MSi, Dr Sugeng Riyanto, SIP, MSi, dan Sukastini, SPd. Adapun pesertanya adalah pengurus Ecosista.

Selain mendapatkan materi daur ulang sampah plastik, peserta juga diajari membuat akun media sosial. Tujuannya mendapatkan dukungan luas dari masyarakat dan sarana edukasi sekaligus promosi Ecosista agar lebih dikenal masyarakat dan mitra.

“Selepas program, Tim akan melakukan monitoring melalui sosial media yang dibuat. Selain monitoring dan evaluasi dilakukan secara mandiri oleh tim, LP3M UMY juga menjalankan fungsi monev pada pertengah pelaksanaan program sebagai insturmen akuntabilitas pelaksanaan hibah,” imbuhnya.(****)
