Buat Folebook, Buku Cerita Rakyat Bertuliskan Huruf Braille
YOGYAKARTA – Gerakan literasi di sekolah ternyata bisa meningkatkan tingkat literasi informasi pada anak-anak difabel. Caranya bisa melalui pendekatan buku pada siswa yang dilakukan guru. Meski begitu, tetap harus ada evaluasi dalam pelaksanaannya. Selain itu, perlu adanya intervensi sekolah untuk mengembangkan berbagai kegiatan literasi sesuai kondisi dan kebutuhan. Salah satu sasarannya adalah anak difabel tunanetra.
Survey di lapangan menunjukkan keberadaan buku braille sangat terbatas dan sulit untuk ditemukan. padahal, keberadaannya sangat penting bagi para tunanetra. Bukan hanya buku tentang pengetahuan umum, tetapi juga buku braille bertema cerita rakyat.
Sekelompok mahasiswa UNY melihat peluang usaha yang berkaitan dengan pembuatan bahan literasi berupa buku cerita rakyat menggunakan huruf alfabet dan huruf braille bagi anak-anak tuna netra. Selain meningkatkan literasi informasi, buku ini mengenalkan cerita rakyat yang ada di Indonesia.
Mereka adalah Hesti Wulandari dan Ayu Kurnia Utami dari Prodi Pendidikan Akuntansi, serta Nur ‘Afiifah Djauharoh dari Prodi Pendidikan Luar Biasa.
Hesti Wulandari mengatakan, mereka merancang buku untuk anak usia 4-10 tahun. “Buku ini merupakan solusi bagi para orang tua yang memiliki anak difabel, sekolah luar biasa, dan sekolah inklusi untuk meningkatkan literasi informasi anak-anak,” ungkap Hesti, Selasa (19/10/2021).
Hesti menambahkan, dengan adanya buku tersebut, ikut menambah literatur bagi penyandang disabilitas khususnya tuna netra. Ini sekaligus meningkatkan kepedulian pada penyandang disabilitas.
Mereka menamai bukunya ‘Folebook’ yang merupakan akronim dari Folklore Braille Book.
Ayu Kurnia Utami menambahkan, Folebook merupakan buku bertemakancerita rakyat Indonesia yang bisa digunakan bagi penyandang tunanetra dan anak–anak pada umumnya.
“Dalam Folebook terdapat dua jenis huruf dalam buku ini sisi kanan buku menggunakan huruf Alfabet dan sisi kiri menggunakan huruf braille” jelasnya.
Buku tersebut berilustrasi timbul agar tuna netra tetap bisa membayangkan penggambaran di dalam cerita. Selain sebagai bahan literasi buku ini juga berfungsi sebagai media penanaman nilai karakter khususnya pada tuna netra melalui pesan moral dari cerita rakyat.
Sementara itu, Nur ‘Afiifah Djauharoh menjelaskan, alat yang digunakan dalam pembuatan Folebook adalah skeetchbook, aplikasi corel draw, pensil gambar, printer braille, penghapus, penjilid buku, penggaris, dan alat pembungkus. Sedangkan bahan yang dibutuhkan adalah lem, kertas cover (karton jepang), kertas art cartoon untuk isi dan plastik pembungkus.
“Ada cerita rakyat yang digunakan sebagai bahan. Kami memilih cerita rakyat Lembu Suro” kata Nur’Afiifah.
Alasan memilih cerita rakyat Lembu Sura, lanjut Nur’Afiifah, karena cerita rakyat ini mengajarkan pendidikan karakter tentang berpegang teguh pada janji. Pada saat ini, mereka melihat banyak fenomena ingkar janji karena diiming–imingi sesuatu yang lebih berharga. Langkah untuk membuatnya adalah meringkas cerita rakyat tersebut dan dibuatkan sketsanya.
Kemudian, gabungkan ilustrasi dan cerita menggunakan aplikasi corel draw dan filen-ya dieksport dan dicetak dengan printer braille. Hasil cetakan dijilid dan dicek kualitas produknya.
Buku ini didesain dengan ukuran 27cm x 20cm yang dikemas dengan plastik bening, agar tidak mudah rusak. Produk ini merupakan inovasi buku braille untuk anak tunanetra dan non-tunanetra.
Beruntungnya, karya tiga mahasiswi ini berhasil meraih dana Direktorat Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan Kementerian Pendidikan Kebudayaan Riset dan Teknologi dalam Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa bidang Riset Sosial Humaniora tahun 2021 dan lolos dalam Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (Pimnas) yang akan dilaksanakan akhir Oktober secara daring.(****)
